Congratulations to one half of the Garces Gals Samantha Garces on becoming Australia's first ever female to win gold in Abu Dhabi at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
The prep leading into this competition was tough, we had a very short amount of time to drop weight and maintain lean muscle. Leading into comp she was battling an injury that almost stopped all training, not an ideal situation for any athlete to be in. Her mindset and support team around her were key to her success. She put 100% effort into all aspects of her prep, from conditioning sessions to making sure every ounce of food and drink was accounted food.
The discipline Samantha shows at such a young age is amazing to see, her dedication and sacrifices are the reason why she is at the top of her game and will continue to be there for years to come.
We can't wait to see what the future holds for the champion and we are very grateful she is willing to take us along for the ride.
