We would like to congratulate Bruno Alves on his 2016 World Masters win. He is one of the most dedicated, hard-working, and humble athletes and we are so happy to see him achieve victory once again at this championship.
In this tournament he faced off with Clarke Gracie who we had read a lot of hype about leading into the competition. We aren’t the biggest BJJ followers of all time so we didn’t know much about him. We are purely interested in the needs of Bruno leading into these important competitions and our role has nothing to do with the technical side, Bruno has that covered himself and with the help of his coach and also his students, and fellow competitors at Gracie Barra Crows Nest such as Aaron Smith and Igor Almeida, two great competitors themselves. We are fortunate to be able to help all three of these athletes in their preparations and help them get the best out of themselves.
It isn’t every day you get to work with a world champion and help him take his performance to a higher level, especially when he has already had so much success earlier in his career. We are so grateful that we are able to help Bruno feel fitter and stronger each time he competes. Bruno takes our advice on board and implements everything that is needed for him to succeed.
He is the perfect role model for his students at Gracie Barra Crows Nest, teaching them not only on the mats but how to live a life of respect, pride, hard work, and passion.
This win is just one of many for Bruno Alves but I’m sure it is up there with some of his best. He is now in preparation for the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event in L.A which will be held September 3rd and 4th. He will be working hard to cut some weight at the moment and we know he will rip in as hard as possible to get victory for himself, his family, his students, and everyone that supports him. He is a great bloke and we wish him all the best.
